Rodney Franz
Artistic Director

Winner of both national and state awards for excellence in theatre, Rodney Franz has been the Artistic Director of the Iowa Theatre Company for over nineteen years. Having directed and designed over 50 productions—he has also acted in films and television in London, Rome, New York and Los Angeles. He produced print advertising and television commercials in New York City. The author of three plays and a screenplay, Franz is also a published poet and devotes much of his time to teaching. He has lectured and held acting workshops throughout Iowa and as far as Australia.

Film director David Lynch said of Franz’s student’s work: “I have never seen acting which was so natural — and without affectation or any falseness — and no funny ego business — genuinely honest — flawless grasp of all material — so imaginative.”
